Ryan Calloway founded Silver Bell Jazz Band in San Francisco in 2016 as a home for the early jazz he most wanted to explore.

A multi-instrumentalist, former professional swing-dance instructor, visual artist, and experienced event producer, Ryan understands both the inner life of the music and the practical work of creating a successful occasion.
Silver Bell Jazz Band is a collective rather than a fixed roster. Ryan thoughtfully selects musicians and instrumentation for the scale, setting, and musical needs of each engagement while maintaining a clear, recognizable point of view.
The name comes from the curved silver bell of one of Ryan’s vintage clarinets - a small detail with a long musical history, and a fitting emblem for a band that treats tradition as something alive.
